Hank Haskell is a graduate of Bowdoin College and Harvard Business School. He was president and principal owner of Brunswick Yarns, a nationally known manufacturer and distributor of hand knitting yarns which was sold to Coats and Clark in 1995. Hank handles finances for SCRC. Hank is also an avid writer with 4 books in print -- Sailing with the Salty Four, Brunswick’s Legacy, A Learned Man, W. Stewart Woodfill: Master of Mackinac's Grand Hotel, and The Art is the Thing, which is the inside story of SCRC from its inception in 1992 through a celebration of its first twelve years and 54 productions. |

Blake White, Associate Producer/actor/director |

Blake White has appeared onstage in SCRC's productions of Proof, Four Beers, Professional Skepticism, The Car, Foxfire, Doubt, Rounding Third, and Mauritius. Blake's directing work for SCRC includes Matt and Ben and the 2009 benefit A Midsummer Night's Delight. He also served as the assistant director for My Old Lady. As an actor, Blake has worked with the Invisible City Theatre Company, Turnip Theatre Festival, Emerging Artists Theatre, Manhattan Comedy Collective, American Globe Theatre and Caution: Artists at Work, all of which are in New York City. Regionally, Blake appeared on the stages of Actors Theatre of Louisville (Louisville, KY), Actors Workshop of Boston (Boston, MA), River Run Theatre Co. (Madison, IN), Cider Mill Playhouse (Binghamton, NY), Mythmakers Theatre Company (Myrtle Beach, SC), and Upstate Shakespeare Festival and The Warehouse Theatre (Greenville, SC). For the 2009/10 season, Blake will be appearing in The Seafarer as well as directing The Savannah Disputation. |

Al Balkin began his association with SCRC in 1996 when he and Pat Haskell, Artistic Director, collaborated on the musical The Frog Prince. He has also done shows for SCRC on Rogers, Hart and Hammerstein, the Gershwin Brothers, Irving Berlin, and Cole Porter. His Cole Porter show was the inaugural show at the new SCRC playhouse on Beach City Road. Dr. Al has a dual background of New York cabaret singer/pianist and university professor. He received his doctorate degree from Columbia University and taught for many years at Western Michigan University. He lives in Hilton Head Plantation with his wife Rita and their dog Leo. Al has another musical revue for the 2009/10 season, this time focusing of Broadway's greatest composer/lyricists. |

Janice Creech, Music Director |

Janice Creech, a Virginia native, has been a Hilton Head Island resident for twelve years. She has served as the musical director for SCRC’s productions of Gutenberg! the Musical!, The Last 5 Years, as well as the 2009 benefit A Midsummer Night’s Delight. Janice has also played for shows at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, Main Street Youth Theatre and Virginia Music Theatre. She serves assistant director/accompanist for the Hilton Head Choral Society's Youth Choir and accompanist/music coordinator at Unity Church of Hilton Head. |

Chip Egan is the dean of the College of Art at Clemson University and is past Chair of the Department of Performing Arts at Clemson. He received his BA in theatre from Hanover College and his MFA from Northwestern University. He has a wide variety of credits as a director, designer and actor, including the Highlands Playhouse in Highlands, NC; Mill Mountain Theatre in Roanoke, VA; Idaho Repertory Theatre in Moscow, ID; the Historic Shuler Theatre in Raton, NM; Centre Stage, South Carolina and The Warehouse Theatre in Greenville, SC; as well as several colleges and universities. For SCRC, he has directed The Gin Game, Grace and Glorie, Professional Skepticism, Yellow Dog Crossing, Tomfoolery and Almost Maine and appeared in The Good Doctor, Four Beers, The Drawer Boy, The Car and Greetings. Chip is past president of the Southeastern Theatre Conference and also a past president of the South Carolina Theatre Association. In the 1970's, Pat Haskell and daughter Jan Haskell attended Clemson University and worked closely with Chip in the theatre department. In 1998, Chip was instrumental in the design of SCRC's new theatre on Beach City Road. Chip and his wife, Diane, have two children, Patrick and Erin. |

Barbara Farrar Evans, actress/director |

Barbara Farrar Evans has several SCRC stage credits, including My Old Lady, Doubt, Foxfire, Rabbit Hole, Yellow Dog Crossing, Odd Jobs, Greetings, Collected Stories, On Golden Pond, Last Lists of My Mad Mother and W;t. Barbara also served as director for Auntie & Me. She lists acting credits in New York Off Broadway—Grace and Glorie and Blue Skies Forever, plus several Off-Off productions. She has performed over 100 major roles in regional theatres in Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, D.C., Idaho, Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico, Florida, Virginia, and North and South Carolina. In addition, she toured three shows throughout western central states, in southeastern USA, and in California. Barbara has a M.A. in Shakespeare Studies from the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon-Avon, UK. When she and her husband Tom Evans are not working or visiting elsewhere, they divide time among homes in Hilton Head Island, New York City, and Hanover, Indiana. Barbara is a member of Actor’s Equity. For the 2009/10 season, Barbara can be seen onstage in Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks and The Savannah Disputation. |

Tom Evans retired in 1999 after 32 years as the Chair of the Theatre Department at Hanover College in Indiana. As Chair, he garnered widespread recognition for developing the institution's theatre department into one of the nation's best amoungst liberal arts schools. During his years at Hanover, the program captured four national awards from the American College Theatre Festival, including two for staging original works by students. Tom is also a playwright who spent several years joining his wife, actress Barbara Farrar, in developing new plays at the Shenandoah International Play Retreat in Staunton, VA. In 1990, Governor Evan Bayh honored the pair with Sagamores of the Wabash for their contributions to theatre in Indiana. Tom's directing credits include work at Mill Mountain Theatre (Roanoke, VA), Creede Repertory Theatre (Creede, CO), The Shuler Theatre (Raton, NM), The Warehouse Theatre (Greenville, SC), Fulton Opera House (Lancaster, PA), The Phoenix Theatre (Indianapolis, IN), New Playwrights (Washington DC) and Circle Repertory (New York, NY). Tom has directed over 20 productions for SCRC, including W;t, Proof, Four Beers, The Drawer Boy, God’s Man in Texas, Rabbit Hole, My Old Lady and Doubt. As a playwright, Tom's play Yellow Dog Crossing was produced to great acclaim as part of our 2005/06 season. For the 2009/10 season, Tom will be directing Mary's Wedding as well as The Seafarer. |

Jan Haskell-Mohr has been seen on the SCRC stage in Almost Maine and My Old Lady. The theatre bug hit Jan early with her first role at age six as Toto in The Wizard of Oz. Things got better from there on. After minoring in theatre at Clemson University (SC), Jan toured the country for a year with Repertory Theatre of America. She then pursued graduate work in theatre at The University of Georgia in Athens, GA and Cortona, Italy. Jan has appeared on stage in SC and Maine, where she now makes her home with husband, Joss, and her two finest productions Sayde, 18, and Winslow, 14. For the 2009/10 season, Jan will appear in The Savannah Disputation. |

Tony Penna’s SCRC credits include Gutenberg! the Musical!, Matt and Ben, My Old Lady, Mauritius, Rounding Third, The Last 5 Years, Almost, Maine, Rabbit Hole, Doubt, Tomfoolery, Yellow Dog Crossing. NY theatre: The Theory of Color (Medicine Show), Richard II (HERE), set and lighting design for The Brothers Karamazov, Parts 1 and 2 (Culture Project, La Mama). Regional theatre: Actors Theatre of Louisville, Warehouse Theatre, Centre Stage SC, Huntington Theatre Co., Buffalo Studio Arena, Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse. Mr. Penna is a member of United Scenic Artists and the theatre faculty at Clemson University. He is the Resident Lighting Designer for SCRC, the Warehouse Theatre, and NYC’s Eleventh Hour Theatre Company. For the 2009/10 season, Tony will be designing the lights for Mary’s Wedding, The Seafarer, and The Savannah Disputation. |

Katie Rasor is a graduate of Hanover College and holds an MFA in dramaturgy from the American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theater School at Harvard University. Katie has worked with The Actor’s Shakespeare Project, the Williamstown Theater Festival, the American Repertory Theater, and the African American Playwright’s Exchange and has served as a guest lecturer in theater at Bridgewater State College and Boston University and was a teaching fellow at Harvard University. Her articles have also been published in The Moscow Journals, The Serpent's Tongue, and ARTicles. |

Jim Stark has been featured on the SCRC stage in Gutenberg! the Musical!, A Night in November, Auntie and Me, The Drawer Boy, Professional Skepticism and A Final Evening with the Illuminati. Jim also served as director of The Last 5 Years and was Fight Director for Mauritius. He has been seen on stages across the US, including the Indiana Repertory Theatre (Indianapolis), the Wisdom Bridge Theatre (Chicago), the People's Light and Theatre Company (Malvern, PA,) Actors Theatre of Louisville (KY), and overseas in Cyprus, Hungary and Japan. Jim is a Certified Teacher of Stage Combat, licensed by the Society of American Fight Directors. He is Associate Professor of Theatre at Hanover College in southern Indiana, where he teaches acting and stagecraft. Jim is the Associate Director for Culture with The Rivers Institute at Hanover College. He is also Artistic Director of the Riverrun Theatre Company of Madison, Indiana, and appeared in their recent production of David J. Loehr's Wise Man. Jim is a member of Actor’s Equity. |

Peggy Trecker White has previously been seen on the SCRC stage in Matt and Ben, Mauritius, The Last 5 Years, Almost, Maine, Rabbit Hole, and Professional Skepticism. She also served as vocal coach for Doubt, assistant directed Rounding Third and directed Gutenberg! the Musical!. Other credits include the Broadway National Tour of Miss Saigon, Absolution, Antigone and Richard II with American Repertory Theatre, the title role in Miss Julie with Teatre Trouve, Living With Betty at the NY Fringe Festival and Ahraisak with Theatre Mitu in New York. While living in Los Angeles, Peggy was seen in Merchant of Venice, The Music Man, Wonderful Town (starring Lucy Arnaz) and directed the musical production of Orpheus Gets Laid. She is a proud alumnus of The University of Michigan's Musical Theatre program and holds an MFA in Acting from ART/MXAT at Harvard University. Peggy is a member of Actor’s Equity. For the 2009/10 season, Peggy will be directing Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks. |
